Book DescriptionMikael Blomkvist, a once-respected financial journalist, watches his professional life rapidly crumble around him. Prospects appear bleak until an unexpected (and unsettling) offer to resurrect his name is extended by an old-school titan of Swedish industry. The catch—and there's always a catch—is that Blomkvist must first spend a year researching a mysterious disappearance that has remained unsolved for nearly four decades. With few other options, he accepts and enlists the help of investigator Lisbeth Salander, a misunderstood genius with a cache of authority issues. Little is as it seems in Larsson's novel, but there is at least one constant: you really don't want to mess with the girl with the dragon tattoo.

Review: Here I find myself going against the grain (which I'm certain will happen more and more as I post reviews). I can't rant and rave and tell you how super this book was. Why? Well, because....to me it wasn't. I guess I just missed something. Or perhaps it's the "popularity" of "If it's made into a movie it has to be great."

I never was able to fall in love (or hate) with any of the characters. They all seemed to fall flat (and we know-I love vivid, crawl out of the book characters). They were dry. They told of feeling, happening -- rather than showing it. I want to feel like I'm in the middle of something. I want to immerse into being one of the characters (or at least, wishing I could be one of them). Or, at the very least, relating to whatever it is the author has them going through.
